Jerold ‘Jerry’ Fischer, 74, of the Town of Hutchins, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Jerry was born on July 22, 1951, in Antigo. The son of Edward and Angeline Fischer.
On December 16, 1977, Jerry was united in marriage to Janice Janicki in Wausau.
Jerry was a state certified welder working for numerous companies throughout his life. He most recently worked in construction for Miron Construction. A lifelong outdoorsman, Jerry found joy in fishing, snowmobiling, and especially, hunting. Jerry was on a pool league for many years and was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan. Jerry loved spending time with his family and giving the kids their first taste of chocolate, a KitKat, a simple act that always brought him a smile.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Wendy (Robert) Brown; daughter-in-law, Leslie (Steve) Fischer-Preuss; four grandchildren, Alec Brown, Brenna Brown, and Kailyn and Beau Fischer; siblings, Richard (Terri) Fischer, Edward (Julie) Fischer, Kurt (Carla) Fischer and Jane Fischer; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremy ‘Minnow’; brother, Jeff and father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Victoria Janicki.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Steve Pockat will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Hutchins, at a later date. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
